THE JUDITH SNOW ETHICAL LEADERSHIP AWARD
The Judith Snow Ethical Leadership Award was established in 1997. This annual award is given to one or more eighth grade students who have demonstrated superior ethical leadership characteristics. ELF believes this award is unique in the State of Illinois. The Judith Snow application process begins in March and winners are announced at the Board of Education Meeting in June.
ELF sponsored an ETHICAL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE from 1999-2003. This conference targeted students entering middle school and provided them with an interactive and emotionally engaging program to develop problem-solving, leadership and decision-making skills based on sound ethical considerations. After five years of successful sponsorship, ELF funded a curriculum plan and training program for all fifth grade teaching staff and curriculum specialists. Now, the ethical leadership concept has been integrated into the district-wide fifth grade curriculum.
